Course Description
In this over 15 hour online course, spread over 7 months, you will learn the basics of how to deal with clients with a variety of arthritic conditions in a movement studio setting. You will learn about the differences of a variety of arthritic conditions from osteoarthritis to a number of autoimmune arthritic conditions such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Scleroderma and how the diseases, symptoms and medications can affect the quality of life of your client.
The course will go through the specificities and differences of these common arthritic conditions and also some common diagnostic reports provided to clients; symptoms and treatments such as joint damage and post joint replacement treatments, hand complications, tendinopathies and Raynaud’s Phenomenon.
Dr Janet Schloss will also be speaking about the various medications and their impact on the immune system response.
Most of the course focuses on practical applications and exercises that you can start implementing immediately in the studio with your clients. You will learn exercises for increased balance, reaction times and strength. All of them are specifically tailored for clients with various arthritic conditions as well as with different other needs associated with rheumatoid disease.

All the repertoire is filmed and the videos contain information about the focus and purpose for each exercise as well as cueing tips and other useful information.
You will also get the opportunity to learn first hand from our teachers in an extension course that is either live online or face to face, which is only available to students enrolled in this online course or the Chronic-L’s advanced certification.
Chronic-L’s advanced certification
This course is part of our advanced certification in chronic conditions called the Chronic-L’s. The certification includes courses on understanding the immune system, different types of cancer, peripheral neuropathy, Hashimoto’s disease, drop foot and much more. More information about the Chronic-L’s advanced certification and the full list of courses will be released throughout 2023.
Course Structure
This online course is designed to be watched over several months to allow the student to take the time to fully comprehend a concept and apply repertoire they’ve learnt with clients before moving on to the next section. For this reason the course will be released in 7 blocks, with each block being released every 30 days.
When you purchase the course the first section will be available for viewing in your account. The next section will automatically be available 30 days later.

The strategies learnt in this course are also great to start incorporating in the healthy client group to support and protect joints and tendons at any age.
What you get
When purchasing the Springing Your Joint course you will receive 3 year access to all course material. This includes the online video lessons, covering theory and exercise strategies. You will receive a number of flow classes with class plans for safe progression of your clients. The class plans include mat classes, reformer, wunda chair, trap table and baby arm chair classes.
Face to Face Course Extension
You will also get access to our face to face or zoom course extension for a small fee. These will be held throughout the year in various locations and are only open to students enrolled in Springing This Joint or the Chronic-L’s certification. This is a 5 hour practical workshop where you will delve deeper into the material and focus on case studies, cueing and programming for clients with arthritic conditions. The face to face course is built on the online material, and is therefore an extension of the content. For this reason you can only book in for the course extension after viewing the first 3 months of the online content.
To qualify for the advanced certification in chronic conditions, you will need to attend the face to face course extensions for each course component where applicable.
If we are not able to hold the face to face workshop in your location due to unforeseen circumstances or if you are unable to attend any of the locations where the course is being held, there will be options to join in live zoom sessions as well.
